NSW: Flood threat passes
The flood threat across northern New South Wales has subsided, leaving three shires
declared disaster zones.
And more than 3,000 country music fans and 400 residents were evacuated in Tamworth
at the height of the flooding last night, when the Peel River broke its banks.
The State Emergency Services says the peak has now passed Tamworth, and a close watch
is being kept on other northern rivers including the Paroo, Namoi, Macintyre, Gwydir and
Macleay rivers.
