NSW: Deputy Police Commissioner Collins announces retirement
SYDNEY, Aug 31 AAP - NSW Deputy Police Commissioner Terry Collins today announced his
retirement as outgoing commissioner Ken Moroney was farewelled by colleagues at NSW police
headquarters.
Mr Collins, who will retire in February next year after 36 years service, said he had
reassessed his life and career following discussions with his wife.
"I've come to the realisation that there was a time for me to go," Mr Collins told
reporters in Sydney.
"I'm 60 in February next year, I've had discussions with the commissioner and also
with (incoming Commissioner) Andrew Scipione, who supported the extension of my contract
through to my birthday next year.
"That gives me a tremendous opportunity to work closely with Andrew the way I have
in the last two and a half years."
Mr Moroney said Mr Collins had been a good, faithful and loyal servant to the people of NSW.
"I wish Terry and his wife Pam every best wish for the future," he said.
"I compliment Terry who has vast command, generalist and specialist experience and
country and metropolitan experience."
